Three Micropoems by Nilanjana Pachani

< From Assamese to English
Translated by Rajeshri Senapati Gogoi >

1-
I drowned out my inner desires
In the underwater stream.
It fell like a snail's shell
The dead rhythms of nomadic thought!

2-
I wake up suddenly in the middle
of the night,
And ask in terror, who?
I peep out of  the window
and notice, nobody
The Moon of the desert is sitting on the  leaves.

3-
You offered noise
I drank it as nectar
Making my heart bleed
Now I became blue-throated.
